Reading & writing blog
The blog is a small magazine written by people on Siterka — sitters and parents alike. Anyone with an account can write; before a post appears on the blog, someone on our team reads it.
Reading the blog
The blog is at /blogs — linked in the header menu and the footer. The newest posts come first. Click a title or photo to read the whole post; each post has its own address, so feel free to share it.
Writing a post
In the menu choose My stories (/my-blog-posts) and click New story, or open /blogs/new directly. The form has three fields: Title, Short intro (up to 500 characters) and Body. You write the body in an editor that handles headings and subheadings, bold and italics, lists, quotes and links. Headings and lists help most: they break up a long text and help search engines understand what you're writing about. You can add up to three images to the text, each with a caption; readers click to open a larger version.
Cover photo
You add a cover photo once you've saved the post for the first time — a spot for it then opens on the form. A landscape photo looks best, since it sits at the top of the post and on its card in the list; a portrait one is cropped narrowly on the card.
Submit and admin approval
Once you save, the post waits for review. Before it appears on /blogs, someone on our team reads it; after approval your name appears with it. You can see all your posts — including those waiting — on /my-blog-posts.
Editing later
On /my-blog-posts find the post and click Edit. Editing a published post sends it back to review, and it isn't shown on the blog until it's approved again. The post's address stays the same — it's set at the first save and doesn't change when you change the title.
Deleting a post
On the same page every post also has Delete. Deleting removes the post and its photos.
What we publish
We publish posts that are personal and useful — a story, a tip, a lesson learned, a small portrait. We don't publish disguised adverts, posts that reveal details about children, or text copied from others.
