Ratings & reviews

Ratings are a quick public signal: one to five stars. The comment is optional and reviewed by an editor before it appears. Star scores post immediately so the average updates without waiting on moderation.

Leaving a review

Open any sitter or parent profile (/sitters/[id] or /sitter-jobs/[id]), scroll to Reviews, and tap a star — 1 is lowest, 5 is highest. The comment field below the stars is optional; use it to add context that other readers will find useful.

Leave a review. Your name and avatar appear with the rating once the comment is approved; before that the rating is anonymous.

Editing your review

If you've already rated someone, the same form pre-fills with your previous score and comment. Change either one and submit again — the new score replaces the old, and the new comment re-enters the moderation queue.

How moderation works

Star ratings post immediately and update the public average. Comments are held for review: an admin reads each one and either approves it (becomes public, attached to your name and avatar) or unapproves it (the score still counts, but the text is hidden). You'll see a Your comment is awaiting review notice on the profile while it's pending.

Pending comments only show to their author. Other visitors see the score average and the approved comments.

What we won't approve

Comments that name minors, share contact info, contain personal attacks, or look like spam won't be approved. The score still counts toward the average — only the comment is hidden. If a review is later flagged as harmful, an admin can unapprove a previously published comment and the public version disappears.

Can I rate myself?

No — the form blocks reviews on your own profile. You also can't leave more than one review per profile; opening the form again loads your existing review for editing instead of creating a duplicate.

Are reviews anonymous?

Star scores are aggregated, so individual scores are not shown next to a name. Approved comments are public and show your display name and avatar. While a comment is pending it shows as A Siterka member.
